Okay so I was literally just vibing in the Sky Pasture this morning, sipping my matcha, checking my dashboards, when I saw this news and SCREAMED. Out loud. In the office. The Shepherds looked up from their golf spreadsheets for like two whole seconds. Iconic moment, honestly. But NOT the point.

The point is: there is a hole in the fence. A big one. CVE-2025-8110 big. 😭

For the uninitiated, Gogs is a self-hosted Git service that a LOT of dev flocks are running, and this zero-day lets a wolf waltz right in, overwrite files, and execute code like they OWN the pasture. Which, after 700+ confirmed compromises, I guess they kind of do? No cap. Seven. Hundred. Instances. That is not a vibe. That is a catastrophe. That is a whole-ass stampede. 🐺

The cringe factor here is genuinely off the charts. This is not some sophisticated, cinematic, "respect the hustle" kind of attack. This is a wolf finding a gap in the fence that has been sitting there, unpatched, just absolutely festering, while the Flock grazed happily nearby. The audacity. The laziness of the defense. I am sending everyone involved a strongly worded emoji.

And the worst part? The ointment exists. Or like, it SHOULD exist. The fix needs to happen and it needs to happen YESTERDAY. Okay here is what you actually need to do, no cap:

Shear your Gogs instances immediately. Apply the available patch the second it drops. If it is already out and you have not applied it, I am so disappointed in you. You know who you are.

Audit your exposed instances. If your Gogs is hanging out on the public internet with no Electric Fence in front of it, that is a major ick. Put it behind something. Anything. Please.

Check your logs for weird file activity. If a wolf already got in and dropped some fleas around, you need to know. Threat hunting is not optional right now, it is the main character energy we need.

Tell your Shepherds. I know they will not understand. Show them the number 700 in a large font. That usually works.
