SourTrade Is Sending the Flock Malware In PIECES and Making Their Browsers ASSEMBLE It?? The Audacity 😭
Okay I am LOSING IT over this one. Like, I genuinely had to put down my matcha and take a breath because the NERVE of this campaign. The absolute unhinged creativity. I hate it here.
So here's the tea: a malvertising operation called SourTrade has been out here since late 2024, quietly luring the flock with fake grain. We're talking impersonation of TradingView, Solana, and Luno, which, honestly? Targeting retail traders specifically is so calculated and so cringe I can't even. 🐑
The really unwell part? The wolves aren't just dropping fleas on your device the normal way. They're sending the parasite over in PIECES and making your own browser assemble the final executable. Your browser is literally doing their homework for them. The lambs are building their own ticks. I'm going to need a moment. #NotOkay #TheVibes
They're also using a legitimate Bun runtime as the base, which means the electric fence looks at it and goes "oh yeah, totally normal, nothing to see here." Confiant flagged the whole operation on July 23rd and I am so grateful because the Sky Pasture does NOT need this energy right now. ☁️✨
The Shepherds are probably going to hear about this and say "we have an electric fence, we're fine." No cap, that is the most useless response possible and we all know it. The fence doesn't know what it doesn't know, bestie. That's literally what a hole in the fence means. 🐺
The flock clicking on sketchy trading ads in the Sky Pasture is a tale as old as time, but this campaign is genuinely built different in the worst way. No single malicious file from a fixed URL means traditional detection is basically crying in the corner. Slay for the wolves I guess. Absolutely not slay for us. 😤
Remediation (No Cap Edition) ✨
Okay here's what you actually do, flock:
Shear and dip your systems regularly. Unpatched browsers are basically an open invitation. Apply ointment NOW. No excuses.
Tell the lambs to be suspicious of trading-related ads. If a Sky Pasture ad is promising crypto gains, that is fake grain. Full stop.
Deploy browser isolation or ad-blocking at the edge. Stop letting the wolves even get close enough to start assembling anything.
Shepherds: actually look at your threat intel. Confiant has been documenting this since 2024. Read the reports. Do something. Bet.

Grace out, go check your browsers, and for the love of all things woolly, stop clicking trading ads 🐑💨
