Okay so I was just out here enjoying my morning matcha and vibing with the Sky Pasture dashboards when THIS dropped and literally knocked me sideways. Thermo Fisher Scientific, the DNA lab people, had a flaw in their Applied Biosystems human identification software that let bad actors tamper with forensic data files before the analysis software even loaded them. The changes were NEARLY UNDETECTABLE. I'm going to need a moment. 🫠
The hole in the fence here is CVE-2026-17583, and it affected .fsa and .hid output files, which are the files that literally tell forensic labs WHO someone is. As in, DNA identification files. As in, the files used in actual criminal investigations. The wolves could slip in, mess with the data, and the software would just... load it. Unbothered. No flags. No vibes check. Nothing. 💀
The cringe factor on this one is OFF THE CHARTS, no cap. This isn't ransomware or some loud chaotic mess. This is quiet, sneaky, surgical tampering with scientific truth itself. That's not a wolf. The flock working in these labs, bless their hearts, would have had zero reason to suspect anything was wrong.
